Nurturing Families, Building Futures: The PaMEALya Program Launches

Monde Nissin Foundation, in partnership with Caritas Philippines, has launched a transformative feeding program. Dubbed the PaMEALya, this comprehensive, family-focused initiative is designed to enhance health, restore dignity, and foster sustainable well-being over the next twelve months.

At its core, the program tackles immediate hunger while building long-term resilience through a two-pronged strategy. The first component establishes a dedicated one-hundred-and-twenty-day feeding initiative, ensuring participating households receive nutritionally balanced meals five days a week. Far from just a temporary kitchen, this phase incorporates rigorous pre- and post-feeding evaluation, including mandatory deworming, regular height and weight monitoring, and seminars on health and parenting. To guarantee the success of this micronutrient support, the program closely collaborates with local government units, diocesan commissions, and trusted NGOs such as the Hapag-Asa Integrated Nutrition Program and Pastoral Care for Children.

Recognizing that food alone cannot break the cycle of poverty, the program simultaneously deploys a family development component focused on holistic social transformation. Families undergo regular values formation grounded in Catholic Social Teachings and Alay Kapwa principles to strengthen moral and social responsibilities. Concurrently, participants receive practical training in livelihood skills, sustainable agriculture, and savings mobilization through self-help group formation. By combining immediate nutritional relief with long-term capacity building, the PaMEALya Program does not just offer charity; it actively empowers poor families with the tools needed for self-reliance, ultimately aiming to cultivate resilient, self-sufficient communities capable of thriving long into the future.

The program launches with 100 families situated in Calauan, Laguna and General Trias, Cavite.
